When it comes to vegetarian and vegan dining, Taipei has to be near the top of the list worldwide – the options are endless, creative, and surprisingly satisfying. I love discovering new vegetarian spots, and this time I headed out to Miacucina for dinner with two friends from uni — one of whom is vegetarian. It felt like the perfect chance to explore some flavorful plant-based dishes while catching up on life.
I’ll admit, I’m not a food blogger, so writing this feels a little awkward. But I do want to start sharing all my food ventures and local dining experiences with you guys, so bear with me. All the dishes we ordered ranged from around 300–450 NTD. I couldn’t find the exact menu we had when we went, so I’ll just share what we tried!
big bad smashed burger

Vegan meat, fried egg, avocado, with a side of fries and BBQ sauce. This is a very decent vegetarian burger, but honestly, nothing you couldn’t make at home if you’ve got some good vegan meat. But I have to say, the fries with BBQ sauce were so good: crispy, flavorful, and addictive. Especially that bbq sauce mmmmmhmm. One of my friends actually claimed this was the best dish of the night, so even for non-vegetarian eaters, it’s a surprisingly satisfying pick.
blue cheese spinach pizza

This was my personal favorite. The flavors were just chef’s kiss– rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced. I could have eaten the whole plate by myself, no exaggeration. The pizza itself had a very thin, almost flatbread-like crust, which made it surprisingly light and so addictive — I couldn’t stop reaching for another slice.
three cheese pasta

Very, very cheesy. It can get a little heavy towards the end, but paired with the risotto, which had a hint of sourness, it balanced out nicely. Personally, I love creamy, cheesy pasta (it’s basically how I make all my pasta at home), but for some, this might be a little much.
roasted bell pepper/tomato risotto

I’m honestly not sure if it was roasted bell peppers, roasted tomatoes, or both, but it had a slight kick of spiciness. If you can handle spice, this is great. I enjoyed the subtle tangy notes; it added just the right amount of complexity to the dish.
overall impression
overall: clean, bright environment. pet friendly, but need to be within a carriage, prices are okay, good for a night out with friends or family. Food wasn’t out of this world or anything but it was good, it’s somewhere i’d want to take my mom with me again or something. out of 5 i’d give it a 4.2.
The environment is clean, bright, and pet-friendly (as long as your furry baby stays in a carriage). Prices are reasonable, and it’s a great spot for a night out with friends or family. The food isn’t groundbreaking, but it’s good — somewhere I’d happily take my mom or friends again. Out of 5, I’d give it a 4.2.
If you’re in Taipei and looking for a place to enjoy hearty, flavorful vegetarian dishes without any pretension, Miacucina is a solid pick. Sometimes, a cozy dinner with friends and a good plate of pasta is all the magic you need.
xoxo,
Emily
